This Associate of Science degree program can also prepare students for either transfer to a four-year university upon completion or for entry-level work in web design companies, internet media agencies, and video production companies. The number of credit hours required is again 60 to 61 hours, with similar basic coursework as the Associate of Science in Graphic Communication Design degree described above. However, specialty coursework for this degree is more geared toward providing foundation knowledge of design concepts, technical skills, terminology, and aesthetics specific to producing digital media. While courses in drawing and photography are still included in the curriculum, there is more of a concentration of courses in digital video, digital imaging, and motion graphics involved with this degree. Students attaining this degree will also have a portfolio of their work upon completion, but the pieces will be more concentrated on two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and moving art pieces.

Norwalk was the first public, two-year college established in the state of Connecticut and today offers more than 45 associate degree programs and 26 certificate programs. The Department of Art, Architecture, & Design offers courses in both creative and technical fields, covering architectural engineering and building technologies alongside fine arts, graphic design, and interior design. Associate of Applied Science in Design for the Web
This degree combines principles of graphic design and web development to create a program that introduces concepts and techniques of web design. It includes foundation coursework in art, design, and programming and mixes these with a strong liberal arts education, with the goal of preparing students for entry-level positions in the field of web design. The degree requires a minimum of 62 to 66 credit hours for completion, divided into 21 to 23 college core requirements and 41 to 43 requirements for this major. Courses for the major involve working with such programs as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Dreamweaver, to learn concepts such as digital imaging, digital page design, digital illustration, and web design, respectively. There are also several foundation courses on web development and design involved in the major coursework. Students in this degree program also have the option of an internship that can earn them both an income and college credits.

Within the Department of Film, Video, & Interactive Media, students have a choice of two undergraduate degrees, as well as a minor in script-writing. Whether students find themselves following the traditional Bachelor of Arts path or the more specialized Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program, both offer intensive and hands-on training in digital media production and the same initial course of studies. Subjects covered are media history, film and interactive media theory, writing for media, ethics, and rigorous production practices. Both programs dedicate time to learn skilled storytelling and the development of documentary and narrative works in video and audio mediums, as well as film, DVD, internet, and other emerging technologies. The Bachelor of Arts program offers a broader perspective in that students are allowed to take courses outside of their major, and indeed are required to declare a minor in a subject outside of the School of Communication. The Bachelor of Fine Arts offers instead a greater number of applied studio courses.

The College of Arts & Sciences provides the liberal arts background and general education foundation courses for many of the degrees offered at Quinnipiac University. It also houses the Department of Visual & Performing Arts, which offers specific undergraduate programs in digital design, game design, theater, and theater design and production. Bachelor of Arts in Interactive Digital Design
Students seeking the Bachelor of Arts degree in interactive digital design can expect a lot of in-depth and hands-on experiences within their coursework as they learn to create original interactive work for a range of media, including print, motion graphics, mobile devices, and the internet. Upon completion of this degree, students will have a solid foundation in knowledge of digital imaging, information architecture, web design and development, typography, navigation, and layout. Students will also gain a detailed understanding of computer technology and will undergo advanced studies in multimedia authoring, computer graphics animation, and graphic design. In addition to coursework, students will compile creative projects completed in their classes into a comprehensive and professional portfolio as part of a capstone senior seminar project. Students are also encouraged to complete an internship at an Interactive Digital Design company as part of their studies and thus gain some practical experience in the field prior to graduation.

Three Rivers Community College is a commuter college that serves the southeastern portion of the state of Connecticut by offering a variety of Associate degree programs and certificate programs. With eight academic departments offering broad range of programs, students across the curriculum are taught to develop greater critical thinking skills, greater appreciation for the sciences and humanities, and a greater understanding of the ever-more technological nature of modern society. Within the Technologies Department, studies are geared more toward the science fields, but with an emphasis on the arts of creative problem solving and graphic design elements. Associate of Science, Computer Science Technology
This Associate of Science degree requires a minimum of 66 credit hours for completion and seeks to prepare students for entry-level jobs in computer programming or related jobs or for transition to a four-year college for further studies. Core subjects include the general education requirements and foundation courses in computer programming. Students then choose technical electives that help them tailor this degree to a particular field of specialty within the programming field. Core computer programming coursework includes subjects such as technical writing, communications and networking, object-oriented programming with C++, Java programming, and database development. While this is a much more scientific degree program rather than an artistic and creative one, technical electives could easily take this to the creative design side of computer programming for students who are leaning more toward web design.
